Protests staged against Tehsildar Dooru | Illegal constructions on Highway | | Early Times Report Anantnag, July 19: Members of trade union, local Auqaf committee and civil society Thursday held a protest demonstration against a magistrate (Tehsildar Dooru) for alleged corruption. Protesters halted traffic movement on Verinag-Dooru road and raised slogans against the Tehsildar Dooru Muzaffer Ahmad Malik. "Tehsildar Dooru is a corrupt officer and should be immediately shifted from here," they demanded. They claimed that Malik has fixed rate for everything and his office has became a hub of corruption. "He takes bribe for everything as he has fixed rates. It takes bribe from poor people who attended his office for just a Permanent Residence Certificate. He has received huge bribe in cases related to land," they alleged. Earlier, On June 28, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan placed three revenue officer including Malik, Mohammad Yousf Bhat, Girdawar Circle Verinag and Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, Girdawar Circle Dooru holding the charge of Patwar Halqa under suspension after an internal inquiry found them guilty. "Additional Commissioner Kashmir, who was appointed an enquiry officer has intimated that the spot verification was conducted and it was found that illegal constructions have been raised on Abi-Awal land in Dalwachi in contravention to section 113 A of Land Revenue Act and these constructions have came up without any hindrance put in by the revenue authorities," reads the order. The preliminary enquiry by the Additional Commissioner Kashmir has found three officers including Tehsildar Dooru 'guilty'. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan had also ordered a departmental enquiry against the three revenue department officers and attached them with the officer of Deputy Commissioner Anantnag. However, the suspended Tehsildar reportedly defied the orders and joined back. Early Times had published detailed reports with regard to the illegal constructions all along the expressway. Various orders issued by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir have vindicated reports of this newspaper and internal inquiry clearly states that the officers responsible for stopping the constructions 'slept over the issue'. Last week, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan had directed Sub-Divisional Magistrate Dooru to initiate action against the Tehsildar for carrying out 'bullying activities'. Quoting a CID department report, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir in its order had said that on July 07 Malik had visited Tehsil Office Dooru and barged illegally into the office by breaking the lock. "In this connection you are directed to register an FIR against the concerned immediately," reads the order. |
