Land grabbers encroach upon AHD's Fodder Farm

Rajouri, July 21: Negligence on part of concerned officials of the Animal Husbandry department has lead to encroachment on about 1400 Kanals of land (Fodder Farm) at Wand Mora near LoC in Pukhrani area in Nowshera sub division in Rajouri district.
For the last many years inhabitants of the area gradually encroached the land in question and also have constructed 2-4 Pucca and Kachha houses and rest of the land is being utilized for cultivation of crops.
Recently when the department officials approached the land for cultivation of fodder crop they were not allowed to enter the farm land by the land encroachers.
"The matter was brought into the notice of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Rajouri by the people (reportedly not by the concerned officials apprehending action) on July 17 when DDC held introductory/ public meeting at Kalsian.
"Immediate directions were issued to the concerned officials to retrieve the encroached "said a senior revenue official.
He added under the overall supervision of DDC, MA Asad, an anti-encroachment drive was launched at about 11 am today.
The encroachment drive was supervised by Dr P.R BHati, Joint Director ,Animal Husbandry, Jammu; Gurmukh Singh, ADC, Sunderbani ;Master Popsy, ASP, Nowshera and besides Naib tehsildars from various areas Tehsildars Sunderbani, Qila Darhal and Nowshera were the Magistrates on duty to avoid any untoward incident.
About 200 persons from the area raised objections during demarcation process conducted by the revenue officials but effective policing by the ADC and ASP convinced the encroachers & they didn't adopt any violent way to express their resentment.
"About 1000 kanals of the land was retrieved, demarcated and fenced by the department today. The department has also cultivated fodder crop on the retrieved land in the presence of officials/ force deployed on the spot" said Sunit Singh, tehsildar, Nowshera.
He added further action will be initiated to retrieve the remaining land.
Those who have constructed houses will be asked to give their own equal adjoining land to the department otherwise the structure will be demolished, said a source.
An official said that the concerned Animal Husbandry officials can face action for their negligence.
One Mohd Azam s/o Wazir Mohd r/o Wand Mohra objected the anti-encroachment drive and getting himself dispossessed.
