Alleged custodial killing sparks protest at Chatroo | | | Early Times Report Kishtwar, July 21: Protest over the alleged custodial killing of 40 year old Javed Ahmed Malik son of Mohammad Khalil Malik resident of Baharat Doda in police custody rocked the Chatroo tehsil of Kishtwar district on Saturday evening. Protestors placed the dead body of the deceased at Bus Stand Chatroo demanding arrest of the policemen involved in the gruesome murder of the father of two children. The incident involving police brutality comes in wake of the aftermath of police threat to the journalist, union leaders and unemployed youths, wherein the Kishtwar police once again have come in the center of the storm over the allege custodial killing of Javed Ahmed Malik. As per the details available with "Early Times" the angry protestors blocked the road at Chatroo bus stand for hours together demanded action against the guilty. However the police officials at Police Station Chatroo denied the allegations stating that the accused was arrested by the police last night and was taken to Primary Health Center Chatroo for routine medical checkup, the deceased escaped from police custody-and while escaping he fell which led to his death. The angry protestors after finding no senior police officers and reports of cover up shifted the body of the deceased from the hospital and put it on the road demanding FIR against the guilty police officials under murder charges. The protestors were raising slogans against the police and administration for their in action in the case. Protesters rejected the police version that the accused was involved in bovine smuggling. They said that police are unnecessarily harassing people. Speaking to "Early Times" Mohammad Abdullah Bhanday, the relative of the deceased said that he (Deceased) had gone to police station Chatroo for obtaining police report on bail application of some of his known persons arrested by the Chatroo Police in alleged bovine smuggling case registered by Chatroo police in case FIR No. 26 of 2018 U/S 188 RPC dully marked by the local judge at Kishtwar. Instead of filling a report as per the court directions, the concerned police station illegally detained him after the deceased allegedly refuse to grease their palms." |
