Rajouri Admin conducts drive against Child Labour | 392 workplaces inspected, 26 children rescued | | Early Times Report RAJOURI, July 25: The District Administration, in a major drive across the district, rescued 26 children from different workplaces, dhabas, tea stalls and other construction sites who were forced into child labour and action is initiated against business establishments under Child Labour (Prevention and Regulation Act, 2016). A total of 242 business establishments, 105 tea stalls/dhabas, 30 construction sites and 15 other places were inspected during day long drive by special squads constituted by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad at district and tehsil level and 26 children in age group of 10-14 years were rescued. At district level, the squad was comprised of District Programme Officer ICDS, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, District Social Welfare Officer, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Chief Medical Officer and Dy SP Headquarters whereas at tehsil level it included concerned Tehsildar, CDPO, TSWO, BMO and SHO. During the drive, 3 children from tehsil Darhal, 13 from Rajouri, 5 from Sunderbani and 5 from Nowshera were rescued. 13 rescued children in Rajouri are provided adequate accommodation and are being counselled by officials of Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS). These children will be handed over to their parents after proper verification. Whereas children rescued from other tehsils were handed over to their parents after proper counselling. The Deputy Commissioner while giving details said action is initiated under CLPR Act against the establishments involved in pushing children in child labour in violation of provisions of the Child Labour Act. |
