| Vanmahotsav day celebrated at Katra Public School | | |  JAMMU, July 25: The Vanmahotsav Day was celebrated at Kartar Public School with great fanfare and enthusiasm. A special assembly was held to celebrate the occasion. Students presented speeches, poems and skits to share their views on the importance of greenery. Kids of first and second classes wore green dresses to symbolize the green movement. The staff and students planted saplings in the school compound as a part of the plantation drive. Speaking on the occasion, Harpreet Kaur, Secretary-cum-Principal said that conservation of biodiversity is possible only when we maintain the green cover of the earth. "We should prevent felling of the trees and try to plant at least one tree every year, "she added. The Chairman of the school, Er. Nirmaljit Singh addressed the students and staff imploring them to cut down their energy needs to reduce climate change. The best way to avert global warming is to plant trees in waste lands and on hills. Children and growing persons have to cultivate eco-friendly habits and hobbies. |
