Prof Gupta opposes discriminatory status of J&K | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 3: Opposing the discriminatory status of J&K, the former Union Minister, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has observed that this was the main cause of several complex problems facing not only the people of this State alone but also the entire Country. Though this position was granted as temporary measure when the constitution was framed but the obnoxious provision as also some other such like controversial steps still existed in the statue book even after expiry of more than six decades, this is also providing opportunity to secessionists and dubious characters to fan communal problems in the troubled Kashmir, he added and alleged that some politicians masquerading as secular and nationalists are playing dirty role more than even the separatists who have not hidden their communal inner. Prof. Gupta who is an author of the book-Article 370, A Thorn, pointed out in his statement that the founding father of Indian Constitution Dr. B.R Ambedkar had declined to pilot the provision depriving the citizens of rest of India to have any rights in J&K, whereas the people of this State would enjoy full rights all over the country following this denial, Nehru employed the services of another Minister Gopala Swami Ayyanger to get passed this controversial provision to appease his friend in Kashmir, Sheikh Mohd Abdullah but at the same time assured the Nationalist members including Moulana Hasrat Mohani and others that this was a temporary poprovision which would whither away with the passage of time. |
