SSP disengaged SPOs on 'wrong' recommendations from SP, DGP takes note | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 3: Even as Jammu and Kashmir Police have come under criticism for having disengaged services of three Special Police Officer (SPO)s in Srinagar who were denied wages for over six months, the development has exposed "faulty decision making" in the police department. A senior official posted in the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) said the matter has come to the notice of Director General of Police SP Vaid who has taken a serious note of the "erring officials whose faulty decision has affected livelihood of the poor SPOs." Official documents, a copy of which lies with Early Times, reveals that the SPOs had been working promptly but were shown absent by SP East Srinagar. "Instead of releasing honorarium in favour of these SPOs, SSP Srinagar vide order endstt/ No Estt/SPO/F-20/2018/3667-76 dated 25-01-2018 has dis-engaged these three SPOs on the recommendation of SP City East Srinagar in view of their long absence. Where as on the contrary these SPOs are performing their duties continuously with the Rescue team of SDRF stationed at Nehru Park Srinagar," reads the letter shot by ADGP to the DGP. "In view of the facts, enumerated above, it is evident that these SPO's have been disengaged for no fault of theirs. It is therefore requested that the SSP Srinagar may kindly be directed to revoke his dis-engagement order issued in respect of these three SPO's and also disburse honorarium to them or alternately allot budget under relevant head of Honorarium as has been requested this office letter no. RC/CD/Acct./1226-27 dat 02.02.2017(copy enclosed)," the letter adds. Sources said the DGP has taken a serious note of the "error in decision" on the part of the police officials and that why the SP East was even not aware about the movements of his cops. "On one hand the poor cops were not properly paid their monthly dues whereas on the other hand the same boys were shown the door when they demanded wages. This is nothing but injustice on the part of official machinery that jawans who serve police are starving for no fault of theirs," said a police official posted in SDRF Srinagar. Despite repeated attempts the concerned couldn't be contacted for comments. |
