Many hilly areas of Mendhar facing drinking water shortage | | | Early Times Report MENDHAR, Aug 12: The acute shortage of drinking water in hilly areas of Mendhar, Balakote and Mankote has hit the normal life and people were forced to consume contaminated water from natural sources which may spread epidemic. The shortage of drinking water has forced the people to walk miles together and collect the water which is not worth to drink. The hilly people have now started the cleanliness of natural resources as they have no other option to get water to meet out their need. Senior PDP Leader advocate Nadeem Rafiq Hussain Khan during his visit to far flung areas said that there are no water supply schemes working in these hilly areas. There is no filtration plant so far set up to filter the water from natural resources. The supply of rainy and muddy water by PHE Department through broken and leakage pipes may cause water borne diseases. He alleged that Government has not made any arrangement of water supply through tankers or other sources. He said that the Government has totally failed to solve the problems of the people. |
