Appoint members of anti-Graft bodies, strengthen human rights panel: VC SNU | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 12: Dr Shazad Malik, the Vice Chancellor of Sai Nath University and renowned Social Activist hailing from border town Mendhar of district Poonch has urged the state government led by governor NN Vohra to strengthen the anti corruption, accountability, transparency and Human Rights Panels in the state. The VC said corruption in any civilized society is a curse and impediment for the overall development of the society but it affects the under privileged people the most. Citing the example of remote and border areas of the state , he said it is not only the bullet of the enemy that killing the civilians but corruption is also adding the sufferings of the people, the government of India releases billions of rupees for different projects in border areas but due to prevailing corruption the benefits of such schemes never reach the real target(the poor ). He alleged that from MGNREGA to water supply schemes executed by the PHE, Roads under PMGSY to BADP the actual amount is not spent on site and poor quality of work diminishes within a rainy season and again the poor people left at the mercy of nature. The VC requested the governor to appoint members of the State Information Commission(RTI), State Vigilance Commission, State Accountability Commission and J & K Human Rights Commission at an earliest. |
