Congress leaders, workers accord welcome to Manjeet Singh | | | Early Times Report
SAMBA, Aug 12: Former Minister and newly appointed District President of Samba District, Manjit Singh Sunday received a warm welcome by the Congress leaders and workers. A large numbers of Congress leaders, ex-block heads, and workers attended a function at Samba which was organized in honour of their newly appointed district president Manjit Singh. The party leaders and workers hoped that under the leadership of former Minister, the party will again gain footing in the district with the joining of more people. As a chief guest on the occasion, former minister Manjit Singh thanked the party leadership, state leadership, district leaders and workers who expressed faith in him and his leadership. "Congress Party has a strong base among the people. It will re-emerge in coming elections and form next Government in J&K," asserted Manjit Singh. Referring to the period of former Chief Minister and present leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Minister Manjit Singh said, "Ghulam Nabi Azad's tenure was golden era of Jammu and Kashmir and especially for Samba district. Under his Government, Samba became a separate district and we people got our identity." He said that the whether it was Degree College Samba, central university and developmental workers, everything was initiated by the Congress Government. The phase of work stopped gradually and many developmental workers initiated by then Azad Government could not be taken up, thereafter. "BJP who ruled Jammu and Kashmir along with PDP for three years has been exposed for its false promises. They have only one agenda i.e. divide and rule. Development for this political party (BJP) is only a slogan," he alleged. |
