Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 25: To celebrate the "International Women's Equality Day" and to promote the Duggar Culture of Jammu and Kashmir, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) staged its 223rd musical play "Ladli Beti".
The play was staged in collaboration with Sangam Tru Art Production and National Computer Education centre as parts of its regular Saturday series feature here today at Open Air Theatre, Durga Bhawan, Janipur. The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest Dr Anju Dogra, Health Department, J&K Government and VK Magotra, Former Regional Director of Directorate of Field Publicity, Government of India. Dr Tara Singh Charak, Former Deputy Director, J&K Health Department and JK Raina, Producer-Director Films were guest of honours. The Chief Guest underlined the importance of staging such plays in all parts of the state to generate awareness among the masses about various social evils through theatre/drama which are still very powerful medium of communication. Dr Dogra also highlighted the "Ladli Scheme" of the Government of India.
Earlier in his welcome address, M L Dogra, Chairman, BLSKS, threw light on "International Women's Equality Day and said men and women are both equal and both play vital role in the creation and development of society and in general.
Musical Play "Ladli Beti" written, produced and directed by Dogra reflects the agony of two conservative families who are bent upon getting their daughter and son married at tender age, ignoring the advice of intellectuals of the society.
The marriage turns into a disaster making the life of both bride and groom miserable. Even bride ends her life owing to pangs of pregnancy at childhood after delivery of a dead baby.
The cries of baby girl in womb of the mother caution all of us in the society "Don't kill me. I will be your helping hand in old age".
