No Chimney: Dhabas causing pollution | | | Ashwani Sharma Early Times Report
Udhampur, Aug 26: The Dhabas and other such small food selling outlets here use traditional ways to cook the food thus contribute to pollution. In the heart of city especially at Bus Stand, Slathia Chowk ,Gole Market and other areas these outlets are producing smoke and toxic gases. They use traditional ovens or chullahs and burn wood in them which leaves smoke everywhere. Time and again these food outlets were instructed to install chimneys for releasing the smoke in outer sky but they paid no heed to the directions of concerned authorities. The children passing through these busy roads inhale toxic gases which can easily be avoided if the hotels in the town install chimneys over their traditional ovens. Girdhari is an asthma patient. He informed that whenever he passes through the bus stand road he falls sick as he is allergic to smoke. Locals have appealed to the authorities concerned to take strict steps in this direction so that the Dhaba and other such outlets may install chimneys at their ovens. |
