8/26/2018 11:41:45 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Aug 26: Prestige of both BJP is at the stake for the elections of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil for which polling will be held Monday and results will be declared on August 31.
BJP is trying its best to open its account because party had failed to win even a single seat in last elections. From central leaders to top state leaders, everyone is campaigning for BJP and party has turned local elections into national event in which prestige of entire BJP leadership is at the stake. BJP is hoping to open its account in Kargil council after it entered into pre-poll alliance with Independent MLA from Zanskar Syed Mohammad Baqir Rizvi. Out of total 26 seats, BJP is contesting on 14, supporting six independents and has left similar number of seats for Rizvi.
Members of Parliament (MPs) and legislators of BJP had announced an amount of Rs1.5 crore from their Constituency Development Funds (CDFs) for the development of Kargil to establish party's base in this region. In the last LAHDC Kargil elections, held on August 22, 2013, BJP had failed to open its account in the 30-member Council.
