8/26/2018 11:23:35 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Aug 26: Ahead of the local bodies and panchayat polls in September and October in Jammu and Kashmir, the PDP made key changes in the party hierarchy on Sunday.
The changes were ordered by party president and former chief minister .
Senior PDP leader and Mehbooba loyalist Abdul Rehman Veeri was named as vice president while Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, Abdul Haq Khan, Mehboob Iqbal, S. Surinder Choudhary, F.C. Bhagat were nominated as general secretaries.
Mehbooba also named Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Asiya Naqash, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Raja Aijaz Ali, Bashir Ahmad Ronyal, Maroof Khan, Noor Mohammad Bhat, Amrik Singh Reen, Dr Abdul Majeed, Dr Samiullah, Shah Mohammad Tantray, Deepak Handa and Abdul Rashid Malik as state secretaries.
Syed Altaf Bukhari was named as treasurer of the party while Rafi Ahmad Mir would continue as the chief spokesman.
Mehbooba also reconstituted the party's political affairs committee that she would be heading.
The members of the committee include Veeri, MP Muzaffar Hussain Baig, Mohammad Dilawar Mir, Mehboob Baig, Syed Basharat Bukhari, Nizamuddin Bhat, Yashpal Sharma, Chowdhry Zulfikar, Syed Asgar Ali, Falail Singh, Ashraf Mir, Haji Anayat Ali, Rafiq Hussain Khan and Qiza Afzal.
Last panchayat polls in Jammu and Kashmir were held in 2011.
The revamp in the party also comes amid reports that after the end of Amarnath Yatra, which concluded on Sunday, efforts to form the government by the BJP with the help of Sajad Lone of Peoples Conference and some rebel PDP leaders will gather pace.
Six PDP leaders have revolted against Mehbooba after the BJP pulled out of the coalition government in June. The BJP accused the PDP of discrimination against the regions of Jammu and Ladakh where the saffron party has won all the 25 seats, the highest ever in the 89-member house.
The PDP rebels accused Mehbooba of nepotism and corruption and ignoring their concerns. The rebels have refused to mend fences with Mehbooba and are in touch with Lone.
