Shamsher Hakla demands uplifment of Gujjar, Bakarwal community | | | Early Times Report
Poonch, Aug 26: Prominent Gujjar leader Shamsher Hakla Poonchi today said that literacy rate among the Gujjar and Bakarwal women in the state is very low and concerted efforts need to be taken in this regard by the government. In a press note Poonchi said that Beti Bachao, Beti Padao slogan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi should be implemented in letter and spirit in Gujjar and Bakarwal localities of the state as even after 72 years of independence of India majority of the women among Gujjar Bakarwal community have been deprived of this facility due to lack of proper arrangements of schooling in their localities. Poonchi demanded for opening boarding schools for Gujjar Bakarwals girls at all the district headquarters of the state. He said that Gujjar Bakarwal mostly reside in hilly and far flung and mountainous areas near the forests and on Line of Actual Control. |
