| Recently WHO projected that diabetes will be the 7th leading cause of death in 2030 . One should keep a check on the lifestyle disorder by modifying food habits, making exercise as part of life, reducing the intake of junk food and adopting relaxation techniques life to keep stress at bay. It is unfortunate that the youths in particular are falling prey to alcoholism and tobacco abuse. There is need to organise awareness programmes at educational Institutions on the evils of consumption of alcohol and tobacco. We need to rethink our daily lives -- to eat healthily, be physically active and avoid excessive weight gain. Safety in food is also a resultant of the integrity and strictness of those who impose the rules. Diabetes is a chronic condition in which the body either does not make enough insulin to break down the sugar in foods or uses insulin inefficiently. It can cause early death or serious complications like blindness, stroke, kidney disease, amputation and heart disease. Prevention is better than cure. Eat healthy, Stay Health The World Health Organisation works to promote and protect public health. We the people with knowledge, experience and information must learn to share what they know with others. Every person should feel responsible for his or her own health. Talking about health is an important but it must be done in a responsible way, particularly when the subject is a sensitive one. There is a need to improve health communication of all kinds and at every level. Doctors possess the knowledge but often underestimate the desire of their patients to be fully informed about their health status and the treatment which they are receiving. No doubt, medicine and science have made a great strides and have undoubtedly contributed to improving the overall health status of most people but it is essential that everyone be conscious of the fact that talking about health means, above all, talking about prevention. Health in reproduction is therefore of great important for the well being of families and communities and therefore it has been rightly said that health is not everything but health affects everything. One should remember "Prevention is better than Cure" |
