Jammu, Sept 11: Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari (VKK) Branch Jammu in association with Govt. Higher Secondary School, Sohal, Akhnoor celebrated Universal Brotherhood Day at Sohal, Akhnoor.
This was in commemoration of 126th Anniversary of Historical Chicago Addresses of Swami Vivekananda. On this occassion competition based on the topic Universal Acceptance and Mutual Tolerance in Painting, Essay Writing and Speech Competition were held among the students of Higher Secondary and High Schools of the area.
Disha Kumari, Monica Mangotra and Payal Sharma were adjudged 1st, 2nd & 3rd in Speech Competition. Prof. Vishwamurti Shastri well known Sanskrit Authority was the Chief Guest and Pt. Shiv Prasad Raina a well known Spiritual Personality and Social Performer was the Guest of Honour. On the occasion the Chief Guest stressed upon the audience to spread the message of Swami Vivekananda far and wide as it is the only remedy for the ailments of society and nation. Pt. Shiv Prasad Raina spoke in detail about the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and stressed for following the path shown by Swami Vivekanada.
Dr. O.P. Gupta, Sanchalak of the Vivekanada Kendra Jammu gave detailed account of the activities carried out by the Jammu Branch of Vivekanada Kendra Kanyakumari. G.C. Sanhotra, Sanchalak J&K and Himachal Pradesh exhorted upon the students to come forward to carry out the mission of Swami Vivekanada to make India Viswaguru for world peace and harmony. Ram Pal Sharma Principal, Govt Hr. Sec. School, Sohal, Presided over the function. S.K. Jain. Puneet Mahajan, Harbans Lal, Parneesh Mahajan, Rajinder Kakar, O.P. Gupta, Ram Lal, Sham Lal and many other prominent personalities were present on this occasion. |
