| Inter-state drug smuggler arrested with 1 kg poppy straw | | | Early Times Report
jammu, Sept 22: Police spokesman said that today District Police Samba arrested a Punjab based drug smuggler and recovered 1 kg of Poppy Straw from his possession.
In continuation to the efforts put forth by the District Police Samba in curbing the menace of the drugs from the society under the guidance of Dr. Koshal Sharma, SSP Samba, a Police Party of Police Station Vijaypur headed by SI Chetan Kumar, Incharge SHO Vijaypur under the direct supervision of S. Baljeet Singh, SDPO Vijaypur during surprise Naka checking near Satsang Ashram NHW Vijaypur intercepted a Truck bearing registration number HP53A-5731 coming from Jammu side.
"During checking of the vehicle 1 Kg of Poppy Straw was recovered from beneath the seat of the driver. Driver of truck namely Ashok Kumar of Dasoor Tehsil Nurpur District Kangra, Himachal Pradesh was arrested on spot", said spokesman.
The vehicle along with contraband item was also seized. In this regard a case under FIR No. 127/2018 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Vijaypur police station and investigation started. |
