Gurez is considered to be the remotest place of this North Kashmir district with the people saying that they have been left at the mercy of God. The locals said that they face the problems with related to health care, as there is a shortage of doctors and para medical staff. "Gurez valley has been facing immense health related problems due to lack of manpower including doctors, para-medics and technical staff different hospitals, be it a CHC or any allied health centers," said sources. Sources said that even though CHC Gurez has got modern healthcare machinery, but due to lack of sufficient medical staff, the machinery has been gathering dust, and nobody cares about the poor masses or the assets. "You wouldn't believe that Gurez has almost 50 doctors, but can anybody tell us where they are doing their jobs. The politicians are ruling the roost and they have their own near and dear ones working in other districts of Kashmir valley," said sources.
