22 bovine animals rescued, 01 bovine smuggler arrested

Jammu, Sept 22: In continuation to its special drive against the menace of bovine smuggling launched on the directions of SSP Ramban-Anita Sharma, Batote police today claimed to have foiled a bovine smuggling bid and rescued 22 animals while arrested one smuggler.
Police spokesman said that today a police party of Batote led by I/C SHO Batote SI Sumit Sharma under supervision of DYSP HQ Ramban Asgar Malik and under close supervision of Additional SP Sanjay Parihar raised a surprise naka near Nashri, Batote. "During checking, a truck (Tralla) bearing registration number JK14B-6555 was on its way from Jammu side signalled to stop at Nashri. On search it was found loaded with bovine animals and total 22 bovine animals have been rescued and the truck was seized", said spokesman.
Spokesman further said that 01 suspected bovine smuggler namely Mohd Javed of Ladyan Thrad, Udhmpur has taken into custody. On questioning, the suspected person revealed that they were trying to smuggle the bovine animals towards Kashmir without seeking permission from the concerned authorities.
In this regard a case under FIR No. 106/2018 under section 188 of RPC, 3 PC Act has been registered at Police Station Batote and investigation taken up.
