Police give 'free hand' to separatists!
9/24/2018 10:46:06 PM

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 24: Even as the situation in Kashmir continues to be uneasy amid rise in attack on cops and provocative boycott call for the upcoming Urban Local Body polls, the Jammu and Kashmir Police are seemingly giving a "free hand to the separatists."
Sources said New Delhi has been receiving inputs that the Jammu and Kashmir Police have been allowing the separatists to speak against the government and the upcoming polls at various platforms.
Not only are the separatists allowed to move around, they are allowed to hold meetings where "anti-India stand of the separatists is discussed and also propagated."
Security analysts are of the opinion that giving "freedom" to the separatists at such a critical time can prove detrimental.
"See attacks on policemen have been on rise whereas, the separatists are hell bent to sabotage the upcoming polls. Under such circumstances, it's not wise on the part of the police to allow them space," said a retired police official on the condition of anonymity.
Sources said for the past around a month, the so called Joint Resistance Leadership held at least two meetings where senior leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Muhammad Yasin were present.
The experts said the freedom given to the separatists was against the policy of the New Delhi which recently even declined to hold talks with Pakistan in the US.
"When the country has taken a strict stand how can state police act against the policies? Such policing will only create chaos in the system," said a senior official.
Sources said the policy makers in New Delhi are likely to discuss the matter with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies.
"Our main objective as of now is smooth conduct of polls and there can be no compromise on that, " said a senior official.
