10/11/2018 11:18:49 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 11: Vikramaditya Singh- elder son of veteran Congress leader Dr Karan Singh and scion of Dogra dynasty, who has joined Congress today's morning at New Delhi is likely to party's candidate for Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat.
Joining of Vikramaditya Singh in Congress ahead of 2019 is authenticated the reports that party is likely to field him as candidate against Union Minister, Dr Jatinder Singh, who had defeated Congress stalwart Ghulam Nabi Azad from this seat in 2014 Parliamentary elections.
Vikramaditya Singh, the elder son of veteran Congress leader Karan Singh, and former PDP leader, on Thursday joined the Congress in the presence of AICC general secretary Ambika Soni and former state CM Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Singh was inducted into the party after a meeting with Congress President Rahul Gandhi in the morning.
Credible sources said that Ghulam Nabi Azad has also given his consent to give mandate of Vikramaditya Singh from Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat. This seat was earlier represented by Dr Karan Singh for long time.
Vikramaditya Singh, had joined PDP on August 9, 2014 and resigned on October 20, 2017.
While resigning from PDP Vikramaditya Singh had accused the then Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti of propagating anti-Jammu policies and alleged that she was not following the footsteps of her father late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in uniting all the three regions of the state.
From the day one after quitting PDP, Singh is playing pro-Jammu card and his joining the Congress party would help the party to improve its image in Jammu region where party had performed worst in 2014 parliament and assembly polls.
