Political manipulations rife in police, SP transferred twice in 24 days | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 27: A Superintendent of Police (SP) ranked officer was shuffled to a posting just about two weeks ago but was transferred from there to a post of his choice within 24 days, thanks to behind the curtains political manipulations. This lightening speed transfer of the SP was facilitated to amuse his political boss who wanted him to be posted in his area. Sources informed Early Times that a former minister sought the SP's posting in his area following which pressure was mounted in the corridors of power in New Delhi. After much persuasions and manoeuvrings, the State Home department finally transferred the officer to the place of his, as well as his political master's, choice. "The officer, who had been transferred to a posting 24 days earlier was again reshuffled to a new post. The SP was posted in a battalion somewhere in Kashmir province. Last month he was transferred from there to one of the wings of the police department; however, the officer was not pleased with the arrangement," said sources. "Even one of the former ministers, who had strong connections in the Centre, was also upset over the transfer of his 'blue-eyed' officer. The former minister used his links in the union ministry to get a posting for the SP in his area. A central minister asked the State Home department to explore possibilities of getting the SP transferred and posted at a new place. This way a new order of transfer and posting was materialized within 24 days," added sources. They said the SP has joined the new place of posting even though there was no post in the executive police. But still he had been posted in another wing of the department. "The post which has been assigned to the SP is confined only to gather information from all kinds of sources. The posting has been made taking into consideration the future elections. The former minister who was instrumental in managing the said post for the SP did it to collect every possible information from his area. The former minister would utilize the services of the SP to fortify his bastion, which was heavily dented in the just concluded elections to the Urban Local Bodies," said sources. |
