Rs 1 crore looted from unarmoured cash truck by 3 armed robbers | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 27: A hefty sum of Rs 1 crore in cash was looted at the hands of three armed robbers on the Jammu-Patankhot National Highway 1A on Saturday, as per the police. The truck was a private vehicle destined for Delhi and was intercepted during the early hours near Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir. According to the police, the three robbers impeded the truck near Barwal village hours after it had set out for Delhi from Samba district's Bari Brahmana area in J&K. Reportedly, besides the truck driver, a manager was also present in the vehicle and the robbers held them gunpoint and threatened to kill them if they disagreed to comply with the robbery. The miscreants, equipped with firearms, escaped with the cash shortly after. The police officer told news reporting agency PTI that after having taken notice of the special investigation team in order to look into the matter has been constituted. Preliminary probe revealed that the cash belonged to a company and was being transported in the truck to its sister company situated in Delhi. The police said that it may have been a planned robbery and someone aware of the transport being made must be complicit. The officer further said that all possible angles are being investigated and the details appear to be sketchy at the moment. |
