Various incidents of violence reported over the weekend | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 28: One encounter and one case of arson were reported from the Kashmir valley Sunday morning just a day after two security personnel were martyred in the troubled state. Suspected terrorists attacked an Army Camp in Tral's Bajwani last night but no loss was reported, said. In Sopore, a joint team of Army's 22 RR, Special Operation Group (SOG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in early hours of Sunday morning launched a cordon and search operation in Sopore's Zaloora on suspicion of movement of suspected terrorists in the region. In another incident in Sopore, a panchayat ghar in Nowpora area was set ablaze by unknown persons last night. Fire tenders reached the spot and doused the flames. Just yesterday a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer was killed in a terrorist attack in J&K's Budgam district. "In the intervening night, a standoff fire by terrorists took place at the grid Station Wagoora in Budgam district in which one ASI of CISF sustained serious bullet injuries," a police spokesman said. The attack was successfully repelled by the security personnel present on the spot. "The injured ASI Rajendra Prasad was evacuated to the hospital for medical attention but succumbed at the hospital," the spokesman said, adding the area has been sanitized by the security forces. In another incident on Saturday, an Army soldier Rajendra Singh was killed when stones were hurled at an Army vehicle in J&K's Anantnag. Singh was part of Quick Reaction Team that was providing security to a Border Roads Organisation convoy yesterday. When the convoy was passing through Anantnag bypass tri-junction, few youths hurled stones at the vehicle and he was hit by a stone. He later succumbed to injuries. Singh was hit on his head when unidentified individuals hurled stones at the QRT convoy that was passing through the Anantnag tri-junction. Singh, a resident of Badena village in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, had joined the Army in 2016. He is survived by his parents. |
