Double discrimination with Jammu in appointment of Junior Agriculture officers | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 1: The Agriculture graduates of Jammu have to face double discrimination in the appointment of Junior Agriculture Extension Officers as on one hand over 70 percent selected candidates are from Kashmir valley and secondly all selected candidates were allowed to join against the vacant posts of Jammu while leaving the vacant posts of valley intact. A total of 69 posts of Junior Agriculture Extension Officers (JAEO) were referred to Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board in September 2015 and the final selection list was forwarded by JKSSB to Agriculture department on September 13 and the Agriculture department made it public on October 22, comprising 62 selected candidates. In the selection list out of 48 posts in Open Category, 88 percent are from Kashmir valley. 42 selected candidates in Open merit are from valley and remaining six from Jammu. Whereas in the remaining 14 posts in reserved categories, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, ALC, three candidates from Jammu in ST, 4 in SC, and 2 in ALC list find place. The candidates from Jammu got merely got 15 posts out of total 62 seats, which accounts for merely 24 percent and Ladakh region got six percent seats that too in reserved category seats. Interestingly, when it comes to join the department, all the selected candidates including the selected candidates of Kashmir valley, have been asked to join in Jammu region. "When the posts were referred to SSB, majority vacant posts were from Kashmir valley but under a well knitted strategy, the administration allowed all the candidates to join in Jammu", an official said, adding that there were more than 200 posts of Junior Agriculture Extension Officers (JAEO) vacant in Kashmir region. "Under the governor's rule, the posts of Kashmir valley have been kept vacant, so that aspirants from Kashmir valley would be allowed to get benefit out of it", an official said, adding that the Directorate of Agriculture Kashmir region has already given charge of JAEO's posts to Agriculture Extension Officers (AEOs), thus showing these posts as occupied. They further said that the remaining vacant posts in Kashmir valley would ultimately be occupied by the AEO's during their next promotion. "At one hand the youth of Jammu was discriminated by JKSSB in the selection process and now the Jammu youth would again discriminated as there would be no promotion avenues for Jammu youth serving the department as AEOs", an official said, adding it was beyond imagination as why the vacant posts of Kashmir valley have been left vacant by the department and allowed the valley based candidates to join in Jammu. A senior official of Agriculture department Jammu said that there were many vacant posts in Kashmir division of Junior Agriculture Extension Officers but it was unknown as why same were not fulfilled and kept vacant for future benefits. |
