SRINAGAR, Nov 5: Functioning in the administrative units located across the state is all set to get hit on Tuesday as the All J&K Revenue Officers Association has given a call for one day strike against the lodging of First Information Report (FIR) against some revenue officials in North Kashmir's Baramulla district.
The J&K Revenue Officers Association held an extraordinary meeting today and the participants lodged strong protest against the lodging of FIR against Tehsildar Karhama, Baramulla, Naib Tehsildar and Patwari. The Association said the lodging of FIR is arbitrary and carried out in a hush hush manner.
"All Jammu and Kashmir Revenue Officers Association held an extraordinary meeting in the backdrop of lodgment of FIR against Tehsildar Karhama Baramulla, Naib Tehsildar and Patwari concerned in an arbitrary and atrocious way. The said FIR has been lodged without application of mind and amounts to interference into jurisdiction and authority of Revenue officers and functioning of Patwar institution," writes General Secretary All J&K Revenue Officers Association.
The General Secretary said that All Jammu and Kashmir Revenue Officers Association strongly condemn the lodgment of said FIR and appeals for its early revocation. "In protest against this arbitrary move All J&K Revenue Officers Association has decided to go for one day token strike on November 6, 2018 so that honour, glory and prestige of Revenue authority is safeguarded," the General Secretary said.
The Association has decided to observe pen down strike in the first half of November 6 and in the second half of the day the concerned officers will assemble in premises of the office of Kashmir Division following which a memorandum would be submitted to the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir.
The FIR was lodged following the complaint of relatives of a woman that the Tehsildar acted in a partial manner and supported the group that carried out the attack on the woman and her family members at Karhama, Tangmarg in the Baramulla district. The woman identified as 60 years old Sarwah Begum died in the incident.
After the incident the police registered FIR number 118/2018 against Tehsildar Karhama and his 13 subordinate staff members. The incident took place on October 31, 2018 and the police action was taken with a pinch of salt by the officials of Revenue department.
