Dilapidated 'Raja Ki Haveli' reflects ASI's neglect | | | Ashwani Sharma
Early Times Report
Mansar/Udhampur, Nov 5: The 'Raja Ki Haveli' at popular Mansar Lake is in dilapidated condition thus exposing the tall claims of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and its local offices. Sham Sundar-an elder from the locality informed that Mahant of Nar Singh temple, Ram Kumar adjoining to the Haveli took care of this historical monument but after his death the old building was neglected. Inside the Haveli people have spread litter making it an abode of sogs. Walls of this building have developed cracks and a big chunk has lost the roof. The building is a big risk because it can fall anytime and some innocent lives may be lost. He also said that many tourists who visit the place return disappointed. Chowdhary Rattan Lal-a local leader said that the Haveli should immediately be taken over by ASI for its proper repair and maintenance and caretaking. He also said that a board should be immediately fixed near it showing that it is a vulnerable place and passersby should walk near it with carefulness. |
