Does BJP really care for sacrifice of Parihar brothers? | | | Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Nov 5: The leaders of state BJP are falling over each other to be seen paying tributes to its slain party secretary Anil Parihar and his brother Ajeet Parihar, who were killed by gunmen at Kishtwar last week; but questions are being raised over genuineness of the tears being shed on the tragic death of the brothers who kept the saffron flag flying in once militancy infested Kishtwar district and entire Chenab Valley. While party leaders are issuing statements swearing by the sacrifice made by Parihars, whispers can be heard within the corridors of BJP headquarters over the manner in which party dumped and forgot those who laid their lives for the party's writ earlier. A BJP worker pleading anonymity said that the party shall soon forget and forgo the sacrifice made by Anil Parihar, who kept the nationalist forces together in Kishtwar and kept the party flag flying. "While Anil and Ajeet were killed by the militants, a devoted party worker consumed poison in full public view during the historic agitation over Amarnath land row and laid down his life for party's writ, but he was forgotten after a few days of tributes" he said. "His wife was projected as leader of party's women's wing for some time and then she too was written off" he added. It merits a mention that killing of party's secretary and his brother evoked anguish and wrath amongst the locals who even raised slogans against BJP's top leadership and even heckled the Union Minister and MP who came to attend the last rites of Parihar brothers. "BJP shall have to exhibit through action that it really cared for its people if it has to spare itself from the anguish of its own cadre" he added. |
