UDHAMPUR, Nov 10: A truck driver from Lolab area of north Kashmir's Kupwara district was killed in a road mishap at Batal Balian area of Udhampur on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway during the intervening night of November 9 and 10.
As per the reports, driver of the truck bearing registration number JK 09-4631 died when another truck JK02AV-2974 hit him resulting in his on the spot death.
"The mishap occurred when the driver was checking the screws of the tyres of his truck," said police sources.
The sources said the deceased was identified as Mohammad Altaf Magray, a resident of Doorusa of Lolab area of north Kashmir's Kupwara district.
Police have arrested the the driver, whose truck hit the deceased resulting into his death. The accused driver was identified as Mohd Ashraf, son of Mohd Yusuf of Sangote, Chenani in district Udhampur.
A case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigations were taken up in this regard. |
