Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 10: In a bizarre incident that exposes the work culture in the government schools in the peripheral areas of the region, a peon working at a school in Jammu has reportedly 'employed' a student of the school for Rs. 300/- per month to perform his duties. An eye witness while providing evidence told that a minor student locks the class room at High School, Rangpur Maulanian, in R S Pura every day as the peon leaves the school early and the child is paid Rs. 300/- for performing the duties of the peon. He said that suffering of poor students did not end here. "Ironically, at Government Girls High School, Rangpur Maulanian, in R S Pura, there are two permanent peons, but duo are reluctant in performing their duties", the sources said and added that the Head Master of School is also aware of the mess created by his staff, but he is not taking any action into it. Chief Education Officer, Jammu when contacted said that there might be non-availability of peon. "May be the students are working, due to non-availability of peon", he said, clearly feigning ignorance. |
