Retired R&B JE appointed illegally, gets undue promotions | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 10: Mocking at the rules, a retired junior engineer of Roads and Buildings Department has been given undue promotion in one of the Government owned corporation in violation of the rules. The official was a Junior Engineer of the Roads and Building Department and was sent on deputation to the corporation. After five years, he was transferred back to R&B but he managed to return to the same corporation after one year and was posted as Assistant Manager. Sources said after completing 20 years of service, he applied for voluntarily retirement from the parent department and was sanctioned gratuity, leave salary. However, sources said that he managed to stay in the corporation without any advertisement. He was promoted as Deputy General Manager and in 2009-2010 Deputy General Manager projects. In 2013, he was promoted as Executive Engineer in the said corporation. Sources said that in two years, he managed promotions to the ranks of AE, AEE and XEn. Last year, he was promoted as General Manager projects. Sources told "he has been close to politically affluent, who have helped him to get promotions. The ruling parties have always helped him," the source said. "Everyone fails to understand why he is being given such benefits. There seems no rules for such people," they added. It is pertinent to mention here that the government, in order to check the menace of illegal, backdoor appointment and re-employment especially in PSU and corporations had issued an order imposing blanket ban on making illegal appointments and re-employment. It was also mentioned in the order that all the re-employment orders issued by various government departments are revoked with immediate effect. However as per the sources, the aforementioned order was not implemented in letter and spirit, rather the government departments and public sector undertakings had continued making re-employment and back door appointments. |
