Cong leaders demand new faces in Jammu city's seats for next Assembly elections | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 11: After worst ever defeat of the party in just concluded civic body elections, Congress leadership is under pressure to project fresh faces for Jammu East, Jammu West, Gandhi Nagar and Raipur-Domana segments for next assembly elections. Credible sources said that during the meeting of AICC members of Jammu province, Pradesh Congress Committee chief G A Mir faced severe criticism for allegedly selling tickets for Urban Local Bodies elections. It was demanded that senior leaders who were responsible for distributing tickets in the urban areas, especially in Jammu Municipal Corporation should be removed from the posts and young and new faces should be projected from these seats so that tought fight be given to BJP in next assembly elections. Sources said that leaders demanded that fresh faces should be given chance to contest next assembly elections from Jammu East, Jammu West, Gandhi Nagar and Raipur-Domana segments. Most of the leaders said that party candidates, who had contested last assembly elections from these seats were solely responsible for worst ever defeat. They also demanding sacking of district presidents of Jammu urban and rural. Meanwhile according to an official handout of the party, Congress leadership took stock of the overall political scenario in the state besides reviewing the organizational activities in the wake of recent ULB Elections and ongoing election to the Panchayats in the state and discussed the strategy to gear up to expose the BJP for the future elections in the state. |
