Candidate 'kidnapped' in presence of police at MC Vijaypur | Drama during filing of nomination papers for President post | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 11: A high voltage drama was witnessed Sunday at the office of Municipal Committee Vijaypur when an independent candidate, who had come to file nomination form for the post of president, was 'kidnapped' by the workers of a Kashmir-centric party from the spot. The particular candidate had reached amid tight security in police van at the MC Vijaypur office around 1:30 pm for filing nomination form for the post of president MC. But he was taken away by a former minister from the custody of concerned SHO. The workers of former minister bundled the candidate into their leader's car despite hue and cry by the supporters of the candidate. The candidate's supporters however failed to rescue him from the clutches of political workers. He was taken away from the place under the nose of cops. After the incident, the entire civil and police administration swung into action and senior officials reached the MC Vijaypur office. The situation remained tense during this time over the lapse of police, but the kidnapped candidate appeared later in the evening at MC Vijaypur office where SSP Samba, ADC Samba and other officers were present. His statement about the incident was recorded and later he filed the nomination form as the elections for the post of president and vice president are to be held Monday. If sources are to be believed, the kidnapping drama was done to stop BJP from capturing president post as the independent candidate was being supported by the BJP. When last reports came in, two candidates had filed their nominations for the post of president one for vice president's post. |
