| Infant dies of alleged negligence at DH Kathua | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 19: An infant died at district hospital Kathua moments after he was delivered late Sunday night prompting the family members to accuse doctor and the para medical staff of negligence.
A pregnant woman from Chadwal Hiranagar Kathua was admitted to the hospital on Sunday and she was asked to stay in the hospital. The woman late night gave birth to a baby boy in the labour room without the support of doctor. "Only one nurse was present there but doctor on duty was not present in Labour room" alleged Parents.
"We kept requesting the nurses to call Doctor, but they did not attend her saying that She gave birth without any medical help. Even after the baby was born, the staff didn't care and as a result the infant died" said family members alleging negligence.
Incharge Superintending officer of District Hospital Kathua Anil Sharma confirmed that he had received the complaint regarding the incident.
"I cannot say anything unless an enquiry was got conducted. We will look into the matter and take necessary departmental action, if any lapse is found" he said. |
