| More than 80 percent voting recorded in Rajouri, Dhangri blocks | | Panchayat polls | | Early Times Report
RAJOURI, Nov 24: More than 80 percent polling was recorded in Rajouri and Dhangri blocks in district Rajouri during the third phase of Panchayat elections held today.
Official sources said 81.94% polling has been recorded in Rajouri and Dhangri blocks in Rajouri district during 3rd phase of Panchyat elections today.
According to District Information Officer (DIO), Narinder Raina, 82.33 % polling has taken place in Rajouri block while in Dhangri block polling was recorded 81.39 %.
Reports said polling remained incident free and peaceful as elaborate security arrangements were made by the district administration for the smooth conduct of the elections.
According to official details 80 contestants were in the field in Dhangri block for 17 seats of Sarpanchs while 274 candidates tried their luck for 129 posts of Panchs.
No nomination was rejected for Sarpanch and Panch posts, however, 22 candidates had withdrawn their nomination papers for Panch seats.
In Rajouri block for 23 posts of sarpanchs, 83 candidates were in fray while for 191 seats of Panchs, 274 candidates tried their luck. No nomination paper was rejected, however, 27 persons had withdrawn their nominations for Panch seats in Rajouri block. |
