Their lust for power pushed them away from people, voters | Jammu in no mood to 'forgive' former BJP MLAs | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 24: Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, who were dreaming of once again regaining the power, stand cornered due to Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik dissolving the Legislative Assembly. Sources told Early Times that the former BJP MLAs have once again become accessible to the people and are trying to regain the ground which they have lost during all these years. A few BJP leaders have even started appearing on the news channels and are trying to prove that they were never comfortable with its coalition partner Peoples Democratic Party in the state. "Many of them are trying to make the Jammu people believe that they were becharas and were helpless as the PDP leaders were controlling them," said an analyst. He said that when the BJP leaders were in power they did not bother to reach out to the people, who had voted for them. They just maintained distance from their voters as they failed to fulfill the promises. "After being stripped off as MLAs they (politicians) know it very well that they are as good as commoners and cannot do anything for the people at present," the analyst added. He said that their tryst with power was a bumpy ride as they remained busy in getting their own personal works done rather than helping out the people who had send them to the Assembly. "A few BJP leaders still believe that people of Jammu have no other option other than to vote for them as there is no opposition. Congress during all these years has lost its credibility among the people and the factionalism within the Congress party has ruined the party. In fact Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has been hijacked by the Kashmir centric leaders, who these days are talking in a language which suits separatists," the analyst added. A politician said that independents and the regional parties within the Jammu region are emerging as a force to reckon with. "People of Jammu are looking for a change and want the new people, who can really work for the interests of the Jammu to come forward and replace the parties which during all these years have done nothing except showing dreams to people," he added. The politician said that it won't be easy for the BJP leaders to go to people and promise them "moon and stars" again. "The dismal performance of the BJP leaders as ministers and lawmakers has disappointed the people of the Jammu region. BJP leaders will find it very difficult to befool them once again," he added.
