Drug peddler arrested with 20 Kg poppy Straw | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 25: In continuation to the drive against drugs launched by Jammu police, today Gangyal police claimed to have seized one vehicle and recovered 20 kg poppy straw (bhukki). Police spokesman said that today a routine naka was established at Model Town when one Tevera bearing registration number 1K14A-9507, which was coming from Satwari towards Model Town was signalled to stop but the driver of the vehicle has tried to break the naka in order to flee from the spot, but was stopped after chased by the alert cops. "On questioning, the driver disclosed his name as Amarject Singh of Budgam presently staying at Govind Lane, Preet Nagar, Jammu and during the search of vehicle 20 Kg poppy straw was recovered", said spokesman adding that on further questioning he disclosed that he has brought the consignment from Srinagar and selling drugs among the youth and ruining the society in and around Jammu city. In this regard a case under FIR No 90/2018 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Gangyal police station. More recoveries are expected as there is every possibility of involvement of more persons. It is pertinent to mention here that a case under FIR No 169/2011 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been already registered in this police station against the said drug peddler. The arrest was made by SI Nayat Ali-SHO Gangyal under the close supervision of SDPO City South-Dr. Sunniya Ashkoor Wani and SP South-Vinay Sharma. |
