Company earns bounty, Govt employees suffer | Mediclaim policy for employees: Off or On? | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 25: The suspense, over the much-controversial medi-claim policy for the state government employees and pensioners, is still in vogue as several weeks since Governor declared it a huge scandal, no notification has been issued for its termination. The employees and pensioners are the worst suffers as after deduction of money from their account they have not got any benefit so far while on the other the insurance company has been benefitted from the suspense. "The government has neither scraped the medi-claim policy and nor authenticated the policy for the pensioners and employees, creating confusion over the entire matter", employees said, adding that the money from their accounts had already been deducted by the company. An employee said that recently, he had got an email in which the insurance company had sent a unique ID of the policy. "We are still in confusion whether the policy has been scrapped or not", the employee said, adding that recently the government has started another medi-claim policy through another company but confusion still persisted over the money deducted by previous company. Sources said that a total of over Rs. 60 Crores has already gone into the account of the company whereas none of the employee or pensioners has got the medi-claim benefit from the company. "If the government scraps the earlier policy, the insurance company will go into the court of law seeking stay from the court, but by not scraping the policy, the government has ultimately been benefiting the company, as they were not responsible for giving claim money to any of the beneficiary" an official said. The official said that as per the present situation, all the government employees and pensioners were not covered under any medi-claim policy, despite giving money from their own pocket. J&K Civil Secretariat Non-Gazetteed Employees Union President Gulam Rasool said that there was merely an announcement by the Governor of scrapping of the earlier medi-claim policy but so far there was no official order. "The government must clear the air without any further delay as ultimately employees and pensioners have been suffering despite deduction of money from their accounts", Rasool said, adding that there was no statement from government as what would be the fate of the money deducted from the accounts of employees and pensioners. |
