JAMMU, Nov 25: Despite tall claims of successive governments and concerned authority, the Renal (Kidney) Transplant is still a distant dream for the Jammuties. Due to non-serious approach of the concerned , the patients are suffering and forced to move out the state for getting transplants. Pertinently the persons with kidneh ailments gas increased over the years due to changed lifestyle. However, the facility is available in Srinagar but the officials of the Jammu Medical College, at the helm of the affairs, did not do anything to run provide the facility in Jammu. If sources are to be believed, the matter of the opening transplant facility in the Super Specialty Hospital Jammu has been lingering on as some of the doctors, who do not want to run the service in the government owned hospital for their vestdd interests. As per data, Super Specialty Hospital, Jammu conducts more than 350 dialysis in a month and this is the only treatment a kidney patient can get in the hospital. In the absence of the facility, most of the patients are forced to travel to Punjab, Delhi and other states for the kidney transplant or advanced treatment. The Super Specialty Hospital Jammu was built by spending crores of rupees just to provide best and advance medical facilities to the Jammuities but unfortunately, due to the internal politics, the GMC Jammu and its hospitals have been ruined resulting the department of Nephrology has been crying for up gradation in medical treatment but all in vain. Besides, the Nephrology department is also going to shut down as Head of the department is retiring from the government services by end of this month and after that, the department will be defunct and patients will be affected most but neither concerned authority is thinking about it nor the Concerned Department. Moreover, various meetings were held by the successive governments as well as Secretaries of the departments but nothing has been done on the ground so far. |
