Jammu, Nov 25: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Jammu and Kashmir has sought three tier panchayati raj system in place in Jammu and Kashmir. "Fortunately, at the moment we don't have a most unpopular anti- people government at the husting in the guise of a so-called popular government otherwise the elections to the Panchayats & Urban local Bodies could have been distant dream as we have seen in the past. Every time, the so called popular governments have tried to hack and notch the attempt to form the Panchayati Raj Institutions on one pretext or the other as they never wanted to empower the people at the grass root level", the press release of AAP reads. It further reads, "It was during the most infamous combine of PDP & BJP that amendment in Panchayati Raj Act 1989 was that was made ensured indirect election of Sarpanch of a Halqa Panchayat to be made by elected Panches & not the public thereby opening Pandora box of corruption through horse trading." The meeting was attended by Deep Singh, Ram Singh Chauhan, Farooq Ahmed Banday, Kuldeep Kumar Rao & Sanjeev Sareen. |
