| NDF celebrates international day for elimination of violence against women | | |  Early Times Report
Kathua, Nov 25: International day for the elimination of violence against women was celebrated today in 6 villages of Jammu, Samba and Poonch districts. Members of children groups organized awareness programmes on child rights; child protection; issues of violence against girls and women; and the reporting and redressal mechanism in the state to end violence against girls and women. The programmes facilitated by National Development Foundation with the funding support of the European Union. After the awareness sessions, the children developed IEC material by participating in painting and slogan writing event followed by rallies led by children group members for sensitizing communities about children rights and to end violence against girls and women. The programmes were organized in 6 villages viz Kotli Tanda, Barui and Gharattal in Jammu district, Palli and Karhtoli in Samba district and Mangnar in Poonch district. Painting competitions, slogan writing competitions followed by rallies were organized during the celebrations.
Later on the participants were sensitized through video conferencing by the representatives of Women Helpline on the issues of violence against girls and women and the reporting and redressal mechanisms available in the state to eliminate violence against girls and women. |
