Info deptt officials pay no heed to Advisor Vyas's directions | Continue to act like 'dictators', remain unresponsive | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 1: Directions of the Governor's Advisor BB Vyas to the officials to be "responsive and people friendly" seem to have no takers as the people who are running the administration seem least interested in helping the people out. Early Times has been the victim of the "official apathy and the vendetta" as the people at the helm have punished your newspaper for not toeing the official line. The Advisor Vyas while interacting with the public delegations in Jammu on Friday said that a "vibrant mechanism" has been put in place so that there is proper and timely disposal of the grievances and issues being projected by the people especially related to vital sectors and departments. He said that the officers should be responsive to the needs and issues projected by the people and ensure that these are resolved in a time bound manner. One simple question which one needs to ask the Advisor Vyas is that if a "vibrant mechanism" has been put at place then why it's not visible on the ground. Despite Advisor Vyas asking the officials to be responsive, the officials of the state run Information department without caring for his directives continued with their discriminatory policy. On the same day (November 30, 2018) when Advisor passed these instructions the state run Information department while distributing the government advertisements among the local dailies just gave 50cms of black and white advertisement to Early Times, while the other dailies were yet again provided Lion's share. The Daily Excelsior was given 920 cms of black and white advertisement and 580 cms of coloured advertisement, State Times received 1635 cms and Kashmir Times got 695 cms. Only the Early Times was singled out. Early Times is a well established newspaper having its own office and Press in heart of the Jammu city. It's widely read across the state. There are more than 150 employees associated with this newspaper but the unfair distribution of the government advertisements has put the livelihood of nearly 150 families at stake. We have been continuously highlighting the discrimination being faced by us but the officials who are heading the "vibrant system" have been turning a blind eye towards the victimization of the Early Times. Your newspaper is being punished for raising the issues which touch the skin of a common man and for exposing the rot in the system. The Governor's administration should take a note about Early Times being targeted and being forced into submission. |
