| People stage protest against PWD for delay in construction of bridge | | |  Early Times Report
Bhaderwah, Dec 2: Aggrieved over the delay in execution of Narnoo Lamote bridge on Neeru river by Public Works Department despite repeated requests to concerned officers and local administration, the residents of various villages of Dardu , Narnoo , Lamote and adjoining villages today held protest near Narnoo on Bhaderwah -Doda road early this morning demanding immediate execution of the work of Narnoo Lamote bridge lying pending since for the past over one decade. The protesters alleged that unnecessary delay is being made in construction of this bridge. Speaking on the occasion Ashok Sharma Sarpanch Dradu said that they have brought up the issue to various officials but nothing was done till date. In 2013 R&B authorities promised the villagers to build the bridge but nothing was done till date.
The authorities have failed to construct the bridge. He said that village of Lamote and adjoining areas has a population of near about 3000 and most of the people are living under below poverty line. "If some person falls sick the villagers have to carry him on their shoulder to take them to the nearest health care centre which is about three kilometers as the roads are in bad condition," he said and added that the villagers are risking their lives every time they cross the river . Sajid Mir Sarpnach of Kulsari Bhaderwah said that sometimes crossing the river become difficult particularly during rainy season when the water level is high.
The absence of bridge has made our life miserable one he said.Also there is no direct road to connect the village to the Tehsil Headquarters Bhaderwah. |
