Govt not interested in redressing genuine grievances of Early Times | Public durbars or photo sessions? | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 2: Since the day Governor's rule has been imposed in the state, Advisors to the Governor have held many public durbars in the state to hear the grievances of the people. After every durbar the government claims that the Advisors passed on the spot directions to the officials to redress the grievances of the people. Early Times during the past five months has been continuously raising the issue of state run Information department resorting to discrimination with your newspaper by not providing it with its due share of the government advertisements. Our repeated pleas to end this discrimination have fallen flat on deaf ears. On Monday (December 3) Governor's Advisor Khurshid Ganai is all set to chair yet another public durbar in Jammu to listen to the grievances of the people. Soon after the durbar will end the Information department would issue a big press note claiming that large number of delegations met the Advisor and their grievances were addressed on the spot. Public durbars have turned into photo opportunity sessions and nothing more. Despite Early Times highlighting its grievance almost everyday the people at the helm just brush it aside, one can imagine the fate of the grievances of a common man. The Governor's Administration should stop beating the trumpet about it being "people friendly and responsive." The people at the helm are selective in their response. Early Times has become an eyesore for the corrupt elements and they are hell bent upon silencing this bold voice of Jammu region, which during all these years has highlighted the corrupt practices and the rot within the system. Political regimes tried their best to make your newspaper to toe their line but we did not relent despite the politician choking our space by direction the Information department not to send any advertisements to Early Times. The Governor's administration which has taken a pledge to wipe out corruption from the system too is not paying any heed towards the difficulties being faced by the Early Times due to Information department blocking the government advertisements. Early Times is a well established newspaper having its own office and Press in heart of the Jammu city. It's widely read across the state. There are more than 150 employees associated with this newspaper but the unfair distribution of the government advertisements has put the livelihood of nearly 150 families at stake. Your newspaper it seems is being punished for raising the issues which touch the skin of a common man. The Governor's administration should take a note about how shabbily the Early Times is being treated despite it being a pure nationalistic voice. |
