Jammu, Dec 6: To commemorate the birth anniversary of Late V R Khajuria a renowned sculptor of the state and writer of two books in Dogri, Art and culture activities of Viraj Kala Kendra (VKK) commenced at Viraj Art Gallery, Gandhi Nagar. Wing Commander (Retired) Jagmohan Joshi, Chairman, Lawrence School was the Chief Guest on this occasion and inaugurated the Exhibition in presence of Raj Bharti, President, VKK, Prof. Sarla Kohli, Vice President, VKK, Prabha Jain and Jang S. Verman, senior Artist. Artists, art lovers and parents attended the inaugural ceremony. The prizes were distributed among the winners of the clay modeling competition for school children held on 5th December, 2018. Joshi appreciated the role of Smt. Raj Bharti for organizing such programmes. He said that such events provide ample opportunities to express themselves and explore their talent. Earlier, welcoming the guests Raj Bharti, President, Viraj Kala Kendra highlighted the activities of the Viraj Kala Kendra of the past and to be held in future. It may be mentioned that Viraj Kala Kendra, Jammu, established back in 1992, in the memory of V R Khajuria, an eminent artist of the state, has completed its 25 years of performance, last year. VKK has been organizing art and culture based activities for artists and artisans and socially useful arts and crafts and culture based workshops etc. for the rural woman folk a well working for the promotion and preservation of art and culture of the region. |
