Jammu, Dec 6: Mohammed Mudhasir's three quick wickets at the end of the first day play put the Jammu and Kashmir at the upper hand against the Uttar Pradesh team at the ongoing Elite C Group Ranji match at the Gandhi Memorial Science College Ground, Jammu.
Winning the toss on the grassy pitch with a little moment at the early session, the batsman of Jammu and Kashmir team failed miserably to tackle UP bowlers. Shubham Khajuria was the first man to leave with a ball hitting the timber at the score of 24. Ahmed Banday without any delay left the ball thinking it will move away from the body, but to his bad luck, he was caught in the crease and was judged as a LBW by the Yash Dayal at 29. Paras Sharma was next to perish, with scoring just 6 runs. He was bamboozled by Upendra Yadav with ball moving to the body. With 52 for 3, team Jammu and Kashmir seemed to be in deep slumber. Then it was showcase of Captain Parveez Rasool and Ian Dev Singh. Both of the players kept the score board ticking quite well. Rasool and Dev held the 100 run partnership with Rasool score majority of runs among them. When it seemed that Jammu and Kashmir will get away and score big, the hundred run partnership was broken by Saurabh Kumar. With the wicket of Dev Singh, the Jammu and Kashmir lost the momentum and other batsman left the ground in a hurry as if they had to catch the last plane.
It was the heroics experience of Irfan Pathan who kept one side of pitch after the fall of Captain Parveez Rasool. With nine wickets down at the score of just 219 runs, the hard hitting of Irfan Pathan and tall stand partnership of Akshdeep Nath took the game somehow away from Uttar Pradesh.
Entertaining inning of Irfan Pathan gave some hard time for bowlers to wrap the final wicket. Pathan hit four sixes in an over of Saurabh Kumar. Pathan and Nath scored 50 runs in just four over's in the second session of the day to par the score over 250 runs. Nath played his part too, buy hitting three boundaries in 71 runs last wicket partnership. Pathan was the last man to go after the first over of third session. UP team could have lost first wicket for zero run, but the catch of Madhav Kaushik was grasped by Ian Dev. But that did not stop Mohammed Mudhasir's from pitching the ball up. Pitching the ball on good length gave Mudhasir first wicket. Night watchman Dhruv Pratap came next but could not trouble the score board and was bowled by Mudhasir.
Priyam Garg was the third wicket of Mudhasir fine bowling. The team Uttar Pradesh trails by 259 runs on the stump of day one with seven wickets in hand.
