S Tahir-ul Haq Early Times Report BARAMULLA, Dec 12: Gunfight between militants and security forces broke out in BrathKalan area of Sopore town in the late evening on Wednesday. A top police army official said today afternoon the CASO was launched in the village that ended peacefully after searches of several houses were carried. We got specific inputs about the presence of 2-3 militants, after which the cordon and search operation (CASO) was launched in the area. During the search operation, militants fired upon government forces trigging a gunfight, the official said. In the evening, a joint operation was launched by army's 22 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), SOG, police and CRPF in Brath village in Sopore, the forces are carrying out door to door searches. Sources said that civilians were advised to come out from their houses and that most of the families came out from their houses and searches have been started. Local sources said that as precautionary measures the authorities have suspended the internet services in the area. Forces installed lights in the neighborhood to carry search, all the entry and exit points have been sealed by razor wires, so that the militants couldn't escape from the encounter site, sources told ET over the phone.
