Poonch, Dec 16: A one day capacity building workshop was organised for Juvenile Justice Board, Child Welfare Committee, District Child Protection Unit and Govt. and Private Child Care Institutions including Religious Child Care Institutions in Poonch. The workshop was organized on Jammu and Kashmir Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2013 and Rules 2014 organized by National Development Foundation in collaboration with Directorate of ICPS J&K Govt. with the funding support from the European Union today at Conference Hall, Dak Bungalow, Poonch. Advocate Anant Kumar Asthana Delhi High Court and Supreme Court of India was the main resource person who facilitated technical sessions on understanding Children in need of care and protection(CNCP) & Children in conflict with Law (CCL); functions and roles of JJB, CWC, DCPU, CCIs in dealing with cases of CCL & CNCP; maintaining child friendly environment in JJB, CWC, DCPU and CCIs; functioning of CCIs and quality standards of care and protection including mandatory registration, case management of CNCP & CCL cases- processes and documentation . Anwar Hussain Shah Chairperson Child Welfare Committee Poonch gave an overview on the Juvenile Justice system in Poonch district, explained the existing structures like JJB, CWC and DCPU and emphasised that CWC has handled 259 CNCP cases out of which 182 cases of CNCP has been prioritised for sponsorship from Poonch district.
