Two bovines smuggling bids foiled, 41 cattle rescued, 5 arrested | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 16: Nagrota police under 'Operation Kamdhenu' foiled two bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 41 cattle and arrested four persons. Police spokesman said that Police team led by Inspector Deepak Pathania-SHO Nagrota and Inspector Sanjeev Gupta-SHO Jhajjar Kotli assisted SI Mohd Ashraf and SI Daljeet Singh made the arrests under the supervision of DySP Mohan Sharma-SDPO Nagrota, SP Rural Dushyant Sharma and DIG Jammu Vivek Gupta. Police spokesman said that on specific information, a team from Jhajjar kotli Police Station raised a naka near Suketar and signalled four Srinagar bound trucks to stop for checking. "On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot by breaking the barriers. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased the vehicles and intercepted them", said spokesman adding that during checking, police rescued 32 bovine animals from the trucks and arrested 4 persons, who have been identified as Mohd Riaz, Sajjad Ahmed, Showket Ali and Razak Ali. Cases under FIR Numbers 130/18, 131/18, 132/18 and 133/18 have been registered at Jhajjar Kotli Police Station and investigation started. Meanwhile, a police team from Nagrota police station intercepted a vehicle at ban toll plaza and rescued 9 bovines from the trucks and arrested Sawar Ali. Case under FIR no 310/18 has been registered at Nagrota police station and further investigation taken up in this matter. |
